The final advantage of using online marketing is speed, the internet can put your ideas, products or services in front of a huge world wide audience in a matter of minutes, for example this article you are reading now was put onto my blog and within 5 minutes Google had sent over its search engine spiders and they had indexed the newly created page and added the information to there listing so that people searching for this information would be able to find it.

Even with the huge budgets available to them this is something that the largest companies in the world can only match they can not get information into the public domain any quicker than you, this is a critical advantage when it comes to online marketing over the more traditional off line and media marketing that you may already be familiar with.

If your website employs proper search engine optimisation techniques you can compete with your biggest competitors.

When you market on line the objectives are the same as when you market off line or as some say in the real world, this is a term that makes little sense as it seems to be suggesting that people who gather information or search online are not real people or maybe real buyers, but anyone who has done any online marketing knows the audience for your goods or services on-line is more focused and larger than you could ever hope for in the off line world.

As you have already learned the cost of online marketing makes it extremely attractive, you can get word of your new service or product to an eager market for little or no cost.

The cost is not the most attractive part of online marketing that honer should go to the audience, you can find a market for almost any service you could imagine and the number of people interested in almost every tiny niche related to these topics is where the true power of the internet lies.

Just imagine for a moment that you were a designer of fishing rods, your new range is perfect for Bass fishermen who night fish as it has a special reflective coating that attract Bass at night. Now you might think that there would be a small number of people interested in this product and reaching them would be difficult, and using traditional marketing techniques you would be right, you would need multiple advertisements in numerous fishing magazines to ensure to connected with your audience, and if you wanted to market international that would cost you a fair amount.

However using online marketing you can combine Pay Per Click (PPC) and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques to get you found by night time Bass fishermen.

Before you start with your online marketing campaign you can get a realistic idea of how many people are looking for night fishing and Bass related terms, how much effort it would take to get your site to the top of the search engines for these terms and how much you would need to pay on PPC.

I hope you can see the power of the internet when it comes to looking at potential markets for new goods or services you are thinking of offering to your customers.

We have looked at the possibility of producing and marketing a new product or service off line, or what is sometimes called the real world, the barrier to entry with many of the off line solutions is often cost, to promote a new product or tell people about your new service is expensive if you are going to do it through the media.

A local newspaper advertisement that is just a quarter of a page in size and will only run for one night will cost upwards of £700, you can get discounts if you agree to long term commitments or get an advertisement free if you place 3 and things like this but for a campaign to have true impact you need to keep an advertisement running for weeks if not months and the costs very quickly get in to the thousands of pounds.

These figures can be multiplied by a factor of 10 if you are looking for national coverage and if you want your advertisement shown on television then a budget in the tens of thousands of pounds is required, not very realistic for a small company.

However there is some hope, with the internet you can announce your new service or product to a targeted audience at a very low price, often free.

Some ways of achieving this are to write a blog post and post it on your companies blog, others can then pick it up and the buzz begins, you can use social media such as twitter or face book and get the word out, write a press release and tell the world.

All these methods are free and easy to do, if you have a website you should look into search engine optimisation to get your site found in the search engines.

In the next part of this blog we will be looking at the audience you can attract online.

Online marketing is an extension of traditional forms of marketing, the only real difference between online marketing and real world marketing is that online marketing is done as the name suggests on the Internet.

Marketing your goods or services on the Internet rather than or in addition to off line or traditional marketing has several advantages, these would include, but not be limited to:

Cost

Audience

Speed

With traditional marketing you would need to contact news papers magazines printers, PR companies etc to get word of your latest service out to the people in your area or country that you do business in, if your budget was large enough you could go for a global launch, however this took a lot of planning and was hughley expensive, times and technology have changes and it is now possible to get just as much impact without spending a penny.

Please read part 2 of this blog post when we discuss the cost of an online marketing strategy and how you can attract a global audience with a few minutes work at no cost.

By using a regional domain name such as .UK for your website when you work in the United Kingdom you will help your site in the search engines. This is because you are making it more relavent to the area you actually are and so producing more joined references that are relavent to your site and showing that your site is more appropriate to UK specific searches. If for example you where a search engine optimisation (SEO) company in Salisbury you would be looking for SEO Salisbury UK

Obviously if you aren?t area specific you are just randomly spreading out a blanket website that covers the whole world without targeting any specific clientele, and as anybody that has worked in marketing knows you need to know who your audience is and go after them. All other efforts are wasteful just look at how the UK?s Olympic cycling team improved their equipment and technique?s down to the finest nut to get the top results.

Websites themselves need to be precise and well described, relevance being what its all about, because lets be honest if your looking for candy floss and you get a website on horses you aren?t going to be to pleased about it.

This is probably one of the initial decisions you make when you decide to have your own website, and choosing the correct decision may change how well your site does in the search engines. Most companies are area dependent so narrow in on your specific area and if necessary in the future widen your horizons but only when you know you have a market.

As with everything a website has to be productive for you and by getting the little things right from the very start you can make sure that you are well in front of your rivals in the search engines.

There are 2 main ways that people search in Google. One is for research purposes and the second is for buying purposes.
This means that people will type in certain key words when they are looking to buy something and other phrases when they just want information about something. Therefore your choice of keyphrases should reflect the type of visitor you want.

If you are looking to buy products like clothing then you will use search terms like Buy Paul Frank Clothes or Buy Paul Frank T-shirts as these terms include brand names and the type of clothing. If they were researching into the business or the designer then terms like About Paul Frank Industries or Paul Frank Designer would be used.

This is not always the case for all keyphrases though. A user may have already found desired products and will use keyphrases that include product ids and descriptions. For example if someone was searching for a specific medical product like a Vitalograph Emergency Aspirator then they might use the key phrase (M1830) Vitalograph Aspirator including the product number. A term like this will typically return a list of web pages that display the desired product.

There are also some search terms that cover both research and buying visitors. These are keywords that will be input by both types of user. For instance someone who was looking to research into local web design and search engine optimisation companies is likely to use terms like Web Design Salisbury or Web Design Wiltshire. Some one who is looking to hire a web design or search engine optimisation company is likely to use these terms to.

Having been in the retail industry for some time I was trying to expand my business by setting up a website to advertise my produce and market it to larger businesses that would use it. Because I live in the Salisbury area my first consideration was okay ? Web Design Salisbury? how am I going to get the website that I want designed and properly marketed.

I looked up several articles on the internet and discovered that I would need something that was properly laid out to make it simple for the people coming to my website to discover what they required. I also discovered that once you have your website how you want it to look you have to get it found in the search engines. So no matter how much web design you get done it will be to no avail, if the buyers you want to visit your website don?t see it.

I got in touch with a web design company that had been personally recommended to me just beyond Salisbury and they were able to not only design the website so that the company was shown in its best light but made the website simple to navigate around. What then followed was something near to miraculous with the Internet marketing team was getting the website in front of the right people in the search engines and the business then rolled in it was amazing.

PC games won’t ever die for me. They will need to pull my smoking mouse and keyboard out of my cooling hands, and cut the cable to remove me from my steaming server. The reason for this ouburst is, someone points out the information that PC gaming is ?smaller? than console gaming. What exactly is that supposed to mean? PC gaming has a larger scope for modding which allows gamers to vary the way they play. Users can create their own maps far easier than Console games. Digital downloading looks to be a promising future for PC gaming, so long as the pricing works. The thing generally not mentioned about the physical box and disk was the assurance of back-up.

Enjoy PC gaming, sound and films with home theater quality sound and bass, within your own private listening environment! As a outcome, the PC gaming industry is increasingly dedicated to more immersive games, such as intricate first-person shooters like Crysis, while the consoles are thought of as more of a social experience.

Not only is the hardware more powerful, but developers are more used to working on the PC architecture than they are on consoles, and there’s a lot more graphics RAM, system RAM and storage space to play with. Contrast Bioshock on the 360 to Bioshock on a standard to top end Computer system, it’s obvious that the PC can pull off more detailed textures and imposing effects. Playing on the PC has developed over the years to be as sophisticated, fast, and graphics-intensive as console gaming. In fact, if you want the ultimate in gaming machines, the over the top, polygon-generating master, you need to look at a PC, not a console.

With today?s increasing facility for data storage, growing ISP downstream, and advances in multimedia PC technology, the call for a separate serving multimedia platform has increased significantly within the past few years. When PC game sales drop, a major part is probably the absence of quality-focused and rationally limited game design on that platform.

Although the console industry dominates the gaming world, the PC is still the king of first person shooters and real-time strategy games with its extraordinary capacity to show a plethora of high resolutions and fantastical visual effects. Some of us move against the current and predict the downfall not of PC gaming, but of game consoles. The main point consoles are so repetitively marketed is that fighting piracy is the main reason for their present form, and explains how the convergence of the GPU and the CPU is the next big thing in the gaming industry. The situation led the community manager for Infinity Ward to recently complain about the number of people using Call of Duty 4 online versus the number of copies of the game, that had been sold for the PC?

———-

If you are setting out as a regional company and want to get to the local community we have found some excellent sites that allow you to find neighbourhood information and place either your site and data on to it for nothing. This will provide you with a base to expand your thoughts before ahead of spending out on a community website of your own.

When I worked for myself, I was so focused on the business at hand that I didn?t see the most important of tools, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and good web design. It doesn?t matter what your organisation the major things are that you get the right clientele, that the web design is correctly focussed on the task at hand and finally that the clients that you want to discover your website notice it easily.

Unfortunately this wasn?t what my site was like, the site itself looking cluttered without an easily negotiable set up, the few people that did discover my website, seemed to leave the website almost as soon as they arrived on it. Working on the outskirts of Salisbury, if only I had keyed in
Web Design Salisbury I could have received the answers that my website and organisation so badly needed.

Customers to your website should want to spend money almost as soon as they get to your front page, if the web design for your website is of no interest to the person that has just visited they will just as quickly move off it and leave the site to spend there money.
For customers to actually arrive at your site they will have normally used the search engines to arrive at you, not many businesses understand that if you aren?t on the front page of a search engine you aren?t likely to be visited, because lets face it how often do you go trawling through page after page of search information for a specific site do you not normally just click on the front page.

Its only through doing relavent long term work to a website that you can make it work properly, efficiently and give you a positive return on investment there are no quick solutions just processes that will work to make your site number high in the search engines for your specific topic.
